About gigs:

Some of you have asked if we'll be playing in YOUR city any time soon. The thing is, we don't know. The live music scene has revolves around three things - the venue, the band and the band's agency.

The band and the agency first agree about a period of time where gigs will be booked, the main goal is ALWAYS to fill up the calendar. Then, the agency starts contacting different venues around the country if they'd want the band to play there. And then MAYBE we'll score a gig, if the venue thins that there is a demand for the band.

That's how it goes. So if you'd like us to play in a venue near you, you really should go talk to the venue. Or send e-mail to them. When the venue gets several of these requests (not by the same person all the time), they will see that there is a demand for us. Then they'll contact our agency.

We currently have an deal with Dex Viihde Oy and Lena Haapala.
For inquiries about gigs in Finland, please contact her via contact info provided HERE.

For gigs outside of Finland, please send e-mail to live@badkingband.com.

Cheers, and Merry Christmas to you all! :)

No more silence!

Vesku shredding it!
Oh, just look at the time!
The last time you heard from me was after we started recording the drums in mid-August. Since then, many things have happened.

We took a kind of radio-silence on purpose so we all could concentrate on what we were doing, an as a result we're just finishing up the album. I'm not giving you any names of songs or the album itself, but currently it looks like it's going to have 11 songs on it.

We recorded some really good guitar-tracks, and basically re-wrote some of the songs. I guess the hunting-cabin we recorded in provided a really creative vibe. And no - we didn't drink anything, atleast not scotch. No. Just coffee. (Yeah right!)

Juuso had an idea.
We spent sleepless nights at the cabin, and the fingers and minds of both Vesku and Juuso were really up for a challenge. They really pushed themselves to do un-imaginable things with their instruments and adapted a style of playing that since then has become a signature of the band.

After recording the guitars, we took a small break from the sessions and played an acoustic show in Parainen and on Silja Europa. We also concentrated on visual things. We had a promo-shoot and we also shot a video for one of the songs. You just wait 'til it's out there - it looks very nice!

We resumed working on the album by recording the bass-tracks. Jukkis showed up, and in just three nights he played all the songs. Let's keep in mind that he'd just switched to a 5-string bass and heard some of the songs for the first time since the demo-versions. Now that's what I call adaptation!

Now we moved to recording the vocals. Juuso had gotten out of his long period of struggling with his vocal-chords, and now it was time for taking them out for a test-drive. Believe it or not, he sang his heart out and hit notes that even Patrik can't hit. I guess it's not always a bad thing to keep ones mouth shut. Melodies of the songs were adapted and enhanced, and the lyrics were refined. The album is pretty much complete - there were only the harmonic vocals to be done, and currently the album is getting mixed.

Because of the nature of these sessions, it has taken some time. We didn't only record our performances, we were writing at the same time. I was honestly amazed by how many fresh ideas the the guys came up with. Bad King has grown a lot during these sessions and now we know who we really are. We're looking forward to the day we can shed daylight on the album - it's gonna be huge! We also miss playing live, and with these many changes made, it's going to be pretty different than what you guys got used to.

Soon, friends, soon.

PS. If you guys have any photos from our previous gigs, we'd be really thankful if you'd send them to our e-mail (badkingband(at)gmail.com). Remember to mention your name, and also mention if you don't give permission to edit the photos. Thanks.
